The best part of my job is the sourcing, hands down. For those of you who don’t know, sourcing is when you go to stores and websites and pick out stuff you want to use in a photoshoot. Then you call it in and they send it to you! It’s exactly like shopping — with two huge differences 1) you don’t have to pay!!! 2) you don’t get to keep it (although, once in a blue moon someone will let you and then, you do a happy dance.)
I used to do a lot of sourcing when I worked for Today’s Parent and Weddingbells. In my current role as freelance writer, I don’t get to do it very often. But once in a while, like today, I get to shop for a living once again. Today I’m looking for cool maternity clothes (fun, right?) and I’m also looking for cool shoes, purses and jewels to go with them. (Yippee!) The clothes themselves are gorgeous but not exactly my style, seeing as this womb is closed. The accessories always fit though, baby or no baby. So, I’m having a ball shopping for accessories I could never afford but love to fondle!
Shopping is fun. As you may have guessed, I love it. Shopping for work is even more fun — it’s all of the joy and none of that pesky debt.
I love my job.
What accessories are you coveting for Winter 2011? Let me know and maybe I’ll feature them in my story!
